1. Wine storage essentials
Wine is highly sensitive to environmental conditions. Stability matters more than hitting an exact number a consistent environment ensures wine develops as intended over time. Modern wine cooling solutions have evolved from basic storage units into precision-engineered, kitchen-integrated systems.
The four main factors that affect wine quality in storage are temperature stability, vibration, humidity and UV light exposure. Premium wine coolers address all four. A standard kitchen refrigerator does not: it runs too cold, vibrates too much and cycles temperature too aggressively.
Even fluctuations of 3–5°C can irreversibly affect aroma, structure and aging potential. Consistent temperature over time is the single most important factor in wine preservation.
🌡 Temperature stability The most critical factor. Premium coolers maintain consistent internal climate rather than just reaching a target temperature. | 〰 Vibration control Excessive vibration disturbs sediment and accelerates chemical reactions. Professional wine coolers minimise vibration by design. | 💧 Humidity 50–80% relative humidity keeps corks in condition. Too dry and corks shrink; too humid and mould becomes a risk. | 🚫 UV protection UV exposure degrades wine over time. Smoked or UV-filtered glass doors protect the collection without sacrificing aesthetics. |
2. Built-in vs fully integrated wine coolers
Not all wine coolers are designed for the same installation context. Understanding the difference between built-in and fully integrated solutions is essential for correct specification.
Dunavox tip: Fully integrated models use integrated ventilation technology, no additional cabinet ventilation openings are required.
3. Wine storage & serving temperatures
Different wines require different storage and serving conditions. Multi-zone wine coolers allow multiple wine types to be stored simultaneously at their optimal temperatures. For mixed collections where a single zone is preferred, 10–14°C is the universally recommended compromise.
Note: In the majority of Dunavox models the upper zone is the cooler zone and the lower zone is the warmer zone. The exceptions are the DXB-26.69, DXJ-26.69 and DAUF-32.78, where the zone assignment is reversed.
4. Dimensions and design
Wine coolers are no longer limited to standard appliance dimensions. The Dunavox portfolio offers a wide range of undercounter designs, built-in and fully integrated configurations — alongside dedicated full-height cabinets for showroom or wine-room installations.
Narrow undercounter units ~15–30 cm wide. Ideal for narrow spaces, wine displays or accent installations under the worktop where space is limited. | Standard undercounter modules ~40-60 cm wide. Aligned with standard kitchen cabinet widths for seamless undercounter integration. | 88 cm undercounter solutions 88 cm height, designed to align correctly with modern worktop heights of 90–95 cm. Fastest-growing segment in premium kitchens. | Full-height cabinets ~178–185 cm. Maximum capacity for dedicated wine storage or showroom installations. Available as fully integrated models (Joy-89, Noble-109). |
Built-in column models 60cm wide built-in models varies by height and offers seamless column installation. Front and rear vents is a must in the column. | Fully integrated wine cabinets Plug&Play installation with integrated ventilation system. High-end technology features such as TFT screen display or WiFi connectivity. | Freestanding wine coolers Home product family offers an easy to use solution for wine lovers. Easy placement, compact storage capacity offers a great way to the world of wine cooling. | High capacity HoReCa models Grande and Sera product family are carefully designed for collectors and champagne lovers. Display or label view shelving designs, high-capacity storage offers high-end solution for your collection. |
5. The 88 cm undercounter format
Dunavox was among the first to bring 88 cm undercounter wine coolers to the professional kitchen market — a format developed specifically in response to rising worktop heights in modern kitchen design. Standard undercounter appliances (82 cm) no longer align with contemporary furniture systems, leaving gaps and compromising the visual integrity of the kitchen.
The 88 cm format ensures correct alignment beneath modern worktops, eliminates filler panels, improves ergonomics and increases usable interior space — all without structural modifications to the kitchen.
— Designed for modern kitchen heights of 95-100cm worktops
— Eliminates filler panels and visual gaps in the plinth area
— Providing greater flexibility in bottle arrangement due to the expanded interior space, including support for champagne-sized bottles*
— Improved ergonomics, easier bottle access at working height
— Compatible with contemporary furniture systems across Europe
— Available in both built-in and fully integrated configurations
* Champagne-sized bottle support applies to the DAUF-41.146. Please refer to individual product specifications for full bottle configuration details.
6. Technology and design features
Dunavox develops proprietary technologies that distinguish its wine coolers from generic appliance brands. These features are developed specifically for professional kitchen environments and long-term wine storage performance.
TFT multilingual smart display Central smart interface with precise temperature control and multilingual operation across 9 languages. Selected models include Wi-Fi connectivity. | RAL colour options Custom RAL colour finishes allow wine coolers to be matched exactly to bespoke kitchen furniture, no compromise between design and function. | Display wooden shelves Natural wood display shelves provide premium aesthetics and gentle bottle support for front-facing display bottle loading. |
Multi-LED lighting Multi-zone LED lighting illuminates the collection without generating heat or UV radiation, preserving wine quality and enhancing visual presentation. | Low noise — 35–40 dB 35–40 dB operation makes Dunavox wine coolers suitable for open-plan kitchens and living spaces where noise significantly impacts comfort. | Vibration free Compressor systems engineered to minimise vibration and protect sediment in maturing wines, critical for long-term storage. |
7. Installation principles
Correct installation is critical for long-term performance and reliability. Dunavox provides full installation documentation for all models, including 3D DWG files for professional kitchen planning software.
— Correct niche dimensions → verify all three dimensions against the product specification sheet before ordering furniture
— Unobstructed ventilation → for built-in models, ensure airflow paths are clear before and after installation
— Stable, level positioning → unlevel appliances can affect compressor performance and door sealing
— Accessible dedicated power connection → a dedicated circuit is recommended for professional installations; refer to the product label for electrical requirements
— 24-hour rest period → allow the appliance to stand upright for at least 24 hours before first use after transport
Documentation available: Dunavox provides installation drawings, ventilation requirements, dimensional schematics and 3D DWG files to support precise planning in any professional kitchen design software.
